A great and thorough review from one of our best jazz bloggers Ian Mann :
‘The evocative nature of the poetry here stands up well and this is a thoughtful work that transcends the limits of the usual ‘jazz standards’ or ‘jazz and poetry’ album.’

“My Birmingham” is the first track on my new album “Home is Where the Art is”
An homage to my hometown and its industrial, multicultural and working-class history and of how that history has informed its music and created a Birmingham sound.
“Esther Bennet throws words and images by the handful like spices into a (Brummie-made) balti bowl. Crackling, sizzling and assaulting the senses with smoke, fire and fierce flavour”

This year and once again alongside Terence Collie, Esther Bennett has produced & recorded a new album called “Home is Where the Art Is” –
A labour of love that explores her Birmingham roots and family connections in poetry & spoken word, featuring the music of artist and musician Didier Messidoro.
